My favourite safari adventure begins with encompassing Cape Town’s dramatic landscapes dressed in a complex history with celebrated wine & foodie culture. Our journey unfolds through the wild-life rich wetlands of Botswana’s Chobe (home to the highest concentration of elephants in the world), onto the rich glow of campfires and roar of ‘big cats’ in Zimbabwe’s largest National Park, finally culminating in the World Heritage site of lush rainforest trails and the awe-inspiring sound of the thundering Victoria Falls.

Big Game, Gorillas & Waterglory

This is not your typical safari. It’s my “Big 6.”

We begin where Africa makes an entrance: Victoria Falls. Two nights to soak in the thunder and mist of “Mosi-oa-Tunya” (“The Smoke That Thunders”), where the scale of it all is impossible to prepare for—and exactly why we start here.

From there, we head into the wild heart of Zimbabwe: Hwange National Park. This is true “cat country,” where lions, leopards, and the rest of the Big 5 roam a landscape that feels vast, raw, and gloriously untouched. This is the Africa you’ve imagined…only better, because you’re in it.

We return to Victoria Falls for one more night—but this time, it’s personal. An unforgettable bushwalk brings you up close to elephants you’ll not only meet, but quite literally touch.

And then, we save the most profound for last. In Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you’ll come face to face with mountain gorillas in one of the most extraordinary wildlife encounters on the planet. It’s raw, it’s humbling, and it stays with you long after you’ve left the forest.
