Born and raised in Africa, now proudly based in Canada, I curate African safari adventures with a rare dual perspective, 30+ years of local insight and experience, paired with a clear understanding of North American traveller expectations and concerns.
All I do is safaris in Africa. I eat, sleep and breathe them. No Europe, no Asia, no Australia, no cruise lines – just what I know best. In other words, when it comes to safaris, I’m your girl. I know it, I love it, and I’m happiest when I’m sharing it with people.
I craft private safaris for couples, bespoke family adventures and independent groups. A couple of times a year I lead my small groups myself on the safaris I carefully crafted for them.

Greetings Safari Dreamers! My name is Karen Clegg.
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa and pride myself on being able share the hidden gems I’ve grown up with personally. Imagine how you feel when friends or family come to visit you in your country and how proud you are to show them around. Well that’s how excited I feel every time I design that special journey in Africa for people like you. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to share with you the very best of ‘my backyard’.
Living in Canada for the past 20+ years, I am privileged to have a rare, dual-perspective of both sides. The experience and expertise I bring that comes with growing up in Africa, working in the travel industry there and living in Canada, is a unique combination you will likely not find anywhere else! I understand with so many safari companies, travel agencies, itinerary options – it can be daunting and overwhelming to find someone you trust for your bucketlist trip! I am the person you will talk to always – no call centre, no passing you to another person or department. From the beginning, I’ll take you under my wing and take all the worry out of safari planning, making it so seamless you’ll wonder why you ever had concerns!
My safari adventures are carefully designed to give you truly unforgettable and intimate experiences every day, based on places I know and love, people I trust and every place you lay your head is handpicked by myself.
I’m not a ‘camper’ type traveller, despite being a ‘safari girl raised in the bush.’ I absolutely love being out in the wild, but I’m not interested in ‘roughing it’ to experience it. I like my hot showers, flush toilets, running water, electricity, good food and a proper bed at the end of the day. 😊 In other words, I love nothing more than to get close to nature—I just don’t need to sleep on the ground to do it!
That’s reflected in the safaris I curate. I look for character, comfort and a genuine sense of place, choosing properties where you can experience Africa authentically without giving up the comforts that make a journey truly enjoyable. After all, safari is about getting out into the wild, not roughing it for bragging rights! 😊 I also travel with my small groups, so expect to be regaled with first-hand stories of wild or funny, (or wildly-funny) experiences, and of course my extensive network of bush-friends all over Africa enables me to secure the very best value.
Most importantly, when you travel with me, you’re not handing your once-in-a-lifetime African adventure over to a faceless travel company and hoping for the best. From our very first conversation, you’re dealing directly with me—and I stay personally involved right through the planning, preparation and journey itself, until you’re home again.
